Annual Licence - Residential POWERED CRAFT

If you have not yet joined or launched on to the navigation contact the office 01386 552517 for information about applying for a prompt discount licence.

If you live on your boat for more than 6 weeks per year this is classed as residential and you will need to purchase this licence. If you do not live on your boat, then you need to purchase a non residential private licence.

Home base * If you moor your boat permanently on other waterways eg River Severn or canal system you may apply for an annual licence and will qualify for a 20% reduction. Please contact the office to apply for the discount.

Boat safety details

All boats operating on the Avon require a Boat Safety Certificate (BSC) or a Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) certificate for boats under 4 years old.  This is like a boat MOT - your insurance and river licence will be invalid if you do not have a current BSS or RCD certificate.

Insurance details

The Avon Navigation Trust requires that all boats using the river must comply with the Boat Safety Scheme. In addition, all vessels, (powered and unpowered, must be insured against third party risk of at least £3,000,000, and include salvage cover.
