NAVIGATION & SPECIAL NOTES UPDATE

As planned Nafford lock closed on Monday 28th April 2025 to commence the second phase of works.

The first part of this phase was a detailed survey. Unfortunately we have discovered that the extent of what is required to make the lock safe for the public is significantly more than we originally thought. Therefore this phase of works will require more resources and will take longer than originally expected.

The new expected opening date is now Friday 16th May 2025.

The phase one and two works carried out to Nafford Lock this year has been the above water stabilisation of the chamber, repair of the chamber, rebuild of bullnoses and recasting of the walkways.

Due to the extensive simultaneous unexpected works at Strensham, we have not been able to dewater Nafford as part of phase one and two. This will be undertaken in the third phase, planned for the 2025/2026 closed season, flooding permitting. Therefore, unfortunately the bottom heavy gate and leaking cills will continue to be an issue for the 2025 season.
